A Personal Journey Though the Tarot: The Chariot
Stepping Out
Congratulations! You did it! You have left the family fold and are finally on your own. You are making your own decisions and are taking responsibility for the consequences of your actions. The buck stops at you! Autonomy is a wonderful thing. Are you ready?
It is one thing to be able to pay your own bills and do your own grocery shopping, it is another thing entirely to develop your own ethical standards and systems of belief. A lot of our behaviour stems from knee jerk reactions fuelled by learned assumptions. When we are on our own we finally have the safe space in which to question those assumptions and determine for ourselves if they are correct or not.
Today I draw the The Chariot and reflect upon my autonomy. What are the skills I need to strike out on my own? Am I willing to take responsibility not only for my mistakes but also my obligations? Am I being driven by someone else’s beliefs or my own?
