A Personal Journey Through the Tarot: The High Priestess
Know Thyself
The unexamined life is not worth living. This is the philosophy Socrates was willing to die for. It is about finding wisdom through questioning and debate. It entails being able to have long conversations with those who may not fully understand or even agree with you. If all involved can conduct a considered conversation then all may benefit by gaining wisdom. If you truly know yourself, what drives you and motivates you, you should be able to rationally describe and defend that to others. If you cannot then you are living an unexamined life. This is what happens when you adopt beliefs and philosophies that are not your own. If the philosophy you were raised in can not withstand a bit of scrutiny then it is not worth holding on to.
As we get to know ourselves we identify what is truly important to us. This can bring clarification to our course of action and inform our choices. Those who are willing to examine themselves and understand themselves will gain great personal strength and self confidence.
Today I draw the High Priestess and examine my motivations. I seek empowerment through knowledge and I take responsibility for my actions. I understand that I influence those around me so I remain respectful.
