A Personal Journey Through the Tarot: 9 of Cups
Overindulgence
The poison is in the quantity. There is nothing wrong with a night out with a few drinks and a dinner consisting of too much food. There is something wrong if that is the daily routine. There is nothing wrong with an afternoon of retail therapy. There is something wrong with hoarding. There is nothing wrong with reaching for comfort food when you are upset, but there is something wrong if you do it everyday instead of dealing with the up set.
Addiction can be expressed in many ways but usually at the core of it is an emotional injury that is not being dealt with. Living in this type of denial can be detrimental to your health. Healing requires personal honesty, determination and a realization that you are worth it.
Today I draw the Nine of Cups and reflect upon my personal addictions. What am I running away from? What is my underlying truth? How can I give voice to this pain and reconnect with the world?
