A Personal Journey Through the Tarot: Page of Swords
Open your Mind
It is so easy for us to become entrenched in our ideas and beliefs mostly because we feel comfort and safety in tribal association where common ideals are required. Unfortunately this creates an “us vs. them” mentality that leads to conflict when we are forced to deal with those who are not part of our tribe. There are just too many people on this planet for this type of mentality to persist.
When empathy is practiced understanding is pursued. If we can get over the need to constantly defend and justify our own beliefs and begin to listen to other’s we can begin to not only communicate but to actually co-exist. There may be times when you need to be heard but there are also times when you need to listen. Communication is a two way street.
Today I draw the Page of Swords and ask myself; can I see the world from someone else’s perspective? Can I walk a mile in their shoes? Can I just imagine what might be driving them to act the way they are acting?
